WHAT?!!
AN UPDATE?!!!
Yeah,
long time no speak, huh? Its been sometime since I've been able to
update replicants. Which makes me quite sad. Before it was a thing
that I looked forward to being able to do, then it became work, and
the moment something loses all of the the fun you should (in my experience
anyway) walk away for a bit, re think why you are doing this, and
then go forth and be a happy cabbage again. So that's what I did.
I took some time off to do a couple of jobs (one film, and a mock
car accident for the High School I graduated from) and made a long
overdue (and quite requested) personal
website. In that time I was able to think things over and figure out
why there was no love. It had to do with REAL interaction between
me and the folks who frequent the site. I am hoping that with the
new update there will be a renewed interest in contributing to the
site, that folks will once again want to have their work exposed to
a wider audience.
But
in order to have these type of things continue I REALLY NEED FEEDBACK.
Do you want to see a featured artist? Or tutorial articles? Or do
you want this to be specifically just a data hub with information
only, and NO interviews...? I need to know what my target audience
wants.
I've
had thoughts of turning this into a more generalized Makeup FX site,
but I think that would take away from the unique niche that we've
carved for ourselves... Any thoughts?
Now
in getting back on track.. We have an interview with Steve Prouty,
along with his new silicone GFA system. I've updated the links here
and there, and when I get back from the International Makeup Trade
Show I hope to have a slew of new products to review along with some
interviews, and assorted other goodies.
Speaking
of the trade show, I'm going to do some demos for IceFx
Makeup on Saturday and Sunday, and I'll be passing around replicants.org
stickers, so be sure to find me
and get yours (since I only have 3,000 to give away, heh) I should
be pretty easy to spot, being the only person in a replicants shirt,
and bright blue and black hair.
So once
again that wraps everything up should you have any questions, or comments
or would like to contribute with an article, or be a featured artist
feel free to drop me a line.
Until
July, may your gels always kick, and may your appliances never shred
when removing them from a mold (dual release systems... don't knock
'em until you try 'em)
